STUDENTS' PERCEPTION OF BILINGUAL LANGUAGE USED IN AN EFL CLASSROOM
English teachers in Indonesia apply bilinguals in their teaching to help them deliver the material to the learners. The students usually involve their L1, which is Indonesian language in the English classroom because of the English proficiency level of the students. Based on the background, the study the students' perception of bilingual language used in an English classroom. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection technique used in this research was an open-ended questionnaire and interview. This study used data analysis framework from Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014) namely data condensation, data display and drawing conclusion and verifying. The participants were 37 students of grade XI at one of public senior high schools in Indonesia. The findings showed that the participants had positive perception toward the use of bilinguals in English class even though they also expressed their criticism toward the use of L1 by the teacher. The findings also demonstrated that students' internal factors affecting their perception came from their thoughts and feeling while the external ones from the external stimuli and environment.
