THE ENACTMENT OF BILINGUALISM TO ENHANCE STUDENTS' UNDERSTANDING OF OFFERING AND SUGGESTING MATERIALS AT A PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL IN INDONESIA
This research aimed to investigate teachers' perceptions about how an English teacher implements bilingualism in offering and suggesting materials. This research used a qualitative approach as a research design and was conducted at a private high school in Indonesia. The participant was an English teacher who reflected her use of bilingualism in teaching English in the eleventh grade of senior high school. Data was collected through teaching diaries, video-recorded teaching, and students' oral reflection. This research used thematic analysis from Braun and Clarke (2006) as a data analysis method. The findings showed that the use of bilingualism in English classes, especially in Offering and Suggesting materials, can make the teacher easier to convey the material. In addition, the use of Indonesian and English also makes it easier for teachers to organize the class and to appreciate learners who were actively engaged in the learning process. With the use of bilinguals, the class is more conducive and the learning can be managed well.
