STUDENTS' VOCABULARY LEARNING EXPERIENCE USING ENGLISH SONG
There are several media available nowadays that can be used to promote vocabulary knowledge, one of which is English songs. The perception of students is critical in the learning process. Knowing students' opinions in the learning process can aid in the development of learning, allowing students to be more comfortable and happy while learning. As a result, the researcher conducted this study in order to understand the students' vocabulary learning experiences using English songs. This research was conducted using a qualitative case study design. The subjects of this study were 21 of ninth grade students at a junior high school in Indonesia. The information was gathered through focus group discussions and interviews. Closed-ended questions were utilized in the Focus Group Discussion to discuss students' interest in English songs and how English songs improved their English learning and vocabulary. To analyze the data from the Focus Group Discussion and interview, the researcher used thematic analysis from Braun and Clarke (2006) as the data analysis method. The result of this study revealed that students enjoyed using English songs in their vocabulary learning. A significant number of the students were enthusiastic about learning vocabulary through English songs. This hints that learning vocabulary using songs can be used in different contexts.
